Solutions You Need to Know for Algae!
At Townley Pool and Spa, we know that winterizing your pool is important for many reasons, not the least of which is to ensure a trouble-free opening next summer. Because of that, we make sure that Townley Pools is the place to go for pool supplies in Little Rock as well as information on how to keep your pool maintained and ready to party.
For proper wintertime maintenance, you’ll want to check your pool water regularly to make sure algae formation has not occurred. Algae typically do not grow in water temperature that is less than 60 degrees; however, it is possible, especially considering that Arkansas rarely experiences periods of deep freezing temperatures over an extended period.
Although algae may thrive in warmer waters, it can bloom in lower temps as well, and if it’s allowed to bake underneath a pool cover during a milder stretch of winter you can have a real mess on your hands! For that reason, make sure to check at least once a week, and even more often if things start to warm up.
If, during one of these weekly inspections, you notice algae beginning to form, you’ll need to take quick action to prevent spreading as extended periods of growth can damage your pool’s liner, concrete, etc. Plus, managing algae growth can be a pain when you open your pool for the summer!
If you don’t already have a supply of BioGuard® pool chemicals specially formulated for treatment of algae, a quick trip to Townley’s can have you restocked and ready to put algae on the run, and our team of experts can give you all the information you need to ensure a remedy.
