Maintaining Your Pool’s Water Level

While we love rain because it helps our lawn and often cools the temperature, massive rains can reek havoc on a swimming pool. In this article we look at maintaining your pool’s water level.

How Much Rain is Too Much?

If it rained a lot or over several days, you may notice that the water level in your pool is covering your skimmers. You may even find the pool is so full it’s running over onto the ground. If any of these are the case, it’s time to reduce your water level.

In addition, don’t forget to test your water. When we have that much extra rain water in the pool, you can bet your chemicals aren’t where they’re supposed to be.

What Does David Say?

If you’ve had a lot of rain, you may be wondering what you can do to take care of your pool. Let’s look at maintaining your pool’s water level and what to do to help. Our president, David Townley, is here to show you exactly how to remove water from your pool if it gets too full from large amounts of rain.

Once You’ve Removed the Water

After you’ve removed the water, you want to do several things:

  • Get any debris out of the pool.
  • Brush and vacuum your pool.
  • Test and balance your swimming pool water. You can bring us your water sample, and we’ll test it for you for free using our computerized ALEX system.
  • Shock your pool. This is always a good idea.
