What are You Doing to Stay Emotionally Well?

What are You Doing to Stay Emotionally Well

As you may know, we carry Hot Spring Spas, the number one hot tub brand! Recently, they did a comprehensive Emotional Wellness Index survey of 1,000 Americans trying to learn how people seek solace and improve their well-being.

In this article, we look at the question, “What are you doing to stay emotionally well?” We incorporate findings from Hot Spring Spas’ survey, which are backed by real data.

So, “Are you fine?” The data from the survey looks at the go-to wellness routines people use to find their center. At the same time, it examines the barriers, such as time and guilt, that prevent people from taking care of themselves.

How Americans Seek Emotional Wellness

Hot Spring’s Emotional Wellness Index survey provides a revealing snapshot of how people across the U.S. manage their emotional health and what they wish they could do more of. The study found the following:

1. Nature Leads the Way

A significant 37% of Americans say spending time in nature is their go-to method for feeling grounded. According to the American Psychological Association, spending time outdoors helps reduce stress hormones, calm the nervous system, and naturally lift your mood.

At Townley Pool & Spa, we often remind customers that you don’t need to travel far to connect with nature.

A thoughtfully designed backyard with a Hot Spring Spa can give you a peaceful, grounded feeling. Imagine stepping into warm, bubbling water under the stars. It’s your own private retreat just steps from the door.

2. The Power of a Morning Ritual

Nearly 36% of people say their emotional anchor is a simple, quiet cup of coffee or tea in the morning. That moment of stillness helps set the tone for the day.

Your hot tub can become an extension of that ritual. Just 10 minutes of soaking in the morning, surrounded by fresh air and silence, can ease tension, awaken your senses, and prepare your mind for the day ahead.

There is scientific evidence to support this as well. Studies show that the simple act of sitting in silence can lower cortisol levels, reduce blood pressure, and improve focus.

3. The Home Spa as a Wellness Investment

Approximately 32% of survey respondents view a hot tub as part of a holistic home wellness strategy. And they’re right. Hydrotherapy offers much more than comfort.

The combination of warm water, buoyancy, and targeted jet massage can relieve joint stiffness, improve circulation, reduce stress, and promote better sleep.

At Townley Pool & Spa in Little Rock and Conway, we help people select a spa that suits both their space and wellness goals. When your hot tub becomes part of your daily life, you’re investing in more than relaxation. You’re investing in yourself.

4. The Gen Z Digital Escape

Although social media isn’t considered especially healthy, 37% of Gen Z respondents say that scrolling through social media is helpful to them when they feel emotionally drained.

So, while it is a source of stress, it also seems to relieve their stress. While three of four Gen Zers note the negative impact of social media on their mental health, they seem to still turn to it for comfort. According to the survey, some of them spend nearly six hours a day on these platforms.

What’s Standing in the Way of Emotional Health?

Even though Americans recognize the importance of emotional well-being, the study revealed that many struggle to prioritize it.

The Self-Care Time Crunch

Only 15% of Americans intentionally make time for themselves more than a few times a month. Between long workdays, errands, and family life, self-care is often the first thing to go.

That’s where a home spa shines. It’s always ready when you are. You don’t have to drive anywhere or schedule an appointment. Your hot tub becomes an effortless, guilt-free way to unwind, even for just a few minutes.

The Top Barrier: Lack of Time

Twenty-one percent of people say their biggest obstacle to emotional wellness is simply not having enough time.

Yet, when you have a spa right outside your door, relaxation no longer requires planning. Even a 15-minute soak can make a meaningful difference in how you feel physically and emotionally.

Women and the Guilt Factor

For 20% of women, guilt is the top obstacle to emotional wellness.

They feel selfish taking time for themselves. We want to help change that mindset. When you recharge, everyone around you benefits too. A relaxed, emotionally balanced person has more to give!

The “I’m Fine” Façade

The survey found that 41% of Americans frequently say “I’m fine” when they aren’t.

That statistic highlights a culture of emotional masking where people push through stress instead of addressing it.

Create a peaceful space where you can unwind and be honest with yourself. This is one of the most valuable gifts you can give to your mental health.
