Winter’s Tough. The EGG is Tougher.
The Big Green Egg is built for year-round grilling. While winter may be tough, the EGG is tougher. We put together some tips for your cold weather grilling.
Check them out, and if you have any questions, we are here for you at our stores in Conway and Little Rock, Arkansas! (Two bonus recipes are below, too!)
Cold Weather Big Green Egg Cooking Tips
- Use a heavy-duty, ventilated cover and place your EGG in a wind-sheltered spot to prevent snow, ice, and moisture buildup.
- To prevent the dome from freezing shut, before closing, prop the lid slightly open or wrap foil around the gasket to keep moisture from freezing and sealing it tight.
- If your dome does freeze shut, never force it open. Light a few fire starters inside and let the heat melt the ice. Or use a hair dryer on low around the gasket.
- When grilling in colder weather, allow extra preheat time, keep the dome closed during cooking when possible and store all accessories inside to prevent thermal shock.
