How to Host a Pool Party Movie Night
David and Jessica hosted a Top Gun themed movie night party by the pool! Check out all their pictures and get the details on how to pull this off for your own guests!
If you have a swimming pool and/or hot tub in your backyard, you know how fun it is to swim and soak at night. What if you amped up a notch like David and Jessica did with a Dive-In movie party?
Decide on a Theme
For their party, the Townleys decided on a Top Gun theme. This fits in nicely because David is a retired Navy pilot. They encouraged their guests to wear aviator-type apparel, and their guests dressed accordingly!
Costumes make a party more fun, and it looks like everyone enjoyed their costumes.
Set Up the Big Screen for Pool Party Movie Night
Guests can sit by the side of the pool, lounge in the pool, or soak in the hot tub while watching a movie on the big screen. How did David and Jessica do this?
They projected the movie (Top Gun) right onto the backside of their home. You’ll notice in the photos how happy their guests are.
If you have a flat surface like a wall or a place where you can hang a projector screen, you’re set. Even a white sheet hung on your home will work. You do want to ensure it doesn’t blow in the wind.
If you don’t have a projector, check around, as you may be able to rent one. Don’t put it near the pool so it doesn’t fall in!
Test it before your Dive-In Party to ensure it works. This will also tell you if you need some extra speakers so you have surround sound and everyone can hear the movie.
Choose Your Menu
This is key, as you’ll see from the Townley’s Top Gun-inspired theme. They have:
- Ice Man drinks with blue raspberry and vodka.
- Inflight snacks, including flying fruit.
- Wingman wings that are smoked chicken wings.
- Soaring sliders pulled pork sandwiches.
