How to Clean Your Pool After the Party

How to Clean Your Pool After the Party

It’s a big pool party weekend! After the guests leave, it’s important to take care of your swimming pool.

So, go ahead and throw that amazing party because we’ve got you covered once it’s all over.

We walk you through how in this article! Let’s look at how to clean your pool after the party.

#1: Test Your Pool Water

After loads of swimmers took to your pool, you can bet the water was hit with lots of contaminants, including sunscreen, oil, and even a bit of debris.

So, the first thing you want to do is test your water. You can test it at home with test strips, or you can bring us a water sample to run through our free Alex system.

This way you can find out what chemicals you need to add and if your water is still in balance. Pay careful attention to the pH level of your pool.

#2: Shock Your Water

It’s always a good idea to shock your pool both before and after a big party. This not only provides clean water to your party guests, but it helps rid your pool of contaminants after the party.

Shocking the water helps control algae growth and keeps your water sparkling clear! In addition, shocking your water removes any bacteria that accumulated from your large bather loads. You’ll be left with incredible clean and clear water after you shock your pool.

#3: Use Your Pool Pump

You want to run your pool pump after the party to get your water moving and circulating.

This will help you get debris out of the water while circulating fresh water in your pool.

While this is going on, take your pool net (or use your pool robot) to get out any debris that’s in the pool.

#4: Brush Your Pool

You know that regular pool maintenance is key. After the party, you want to brush the sides and floor of your pool as usual.

This helps you get rid of any residual dirt, debris, and even algae clinging to the walls and surfaces of your pool.

Not only do you want to brush your pool right after the party, but you want to do it every day during the pool season or at least a few times a week.

Brushing your pool is a key algae preventative.

#5: Clean the Pool Deck Area

After your party, you are, of course, cleaning up all the dishes from any food and drink you served. At the same time, go ahead and clean the pool deck and surrounding area.

Put away all the pool toys and floats. Clean up any decorations. Sweep off the pool deck and hose it down if it’s sticky. After all, if you have kids around, they’re bound to spill something.

Take a last check of any pool furniture and wipe it down as needed, too.
